2. Hosting Ideas

Summertime is the best season to host parties and gatherings with family and friends. There are plenty of things to celebrate all summer long like birthdays, graduation parties, Fourth of July parties, pool parties – the list goes on. You can always find a reason to throw a party in the summer with great weather and good company.

No matter the type of party you’re going to be hosting, there are some general things you’ll want to provide: food and drinks for your guests, ample seating, and entertainment. Spending your summer days and evenings hosting frequent gatherings with loved ones is a great way to spend the season!

3. Home Projects

Along with attending local events and hosting unforgettable parties, summertime is also a great time to tackle those home projects you’ve been putting off. Remember how the deck needs to be repainted and sealed? What about the landscaping that needs a refresh? When you own a home, there’s always something that needs fixing/updating/refreshing. Below are just a few ideas for home projects to tackle this summer:

Power Wash

You know all of that dirt and grime that’s covering your home’s exterior? Give it a deep clean by power washing the entire exterior from the siding to any walkways, doors, patios, etc. Nothing cleans outdoor surfaces better than a quality pressure washer, just be sure to follow safety recommendations and ensure that power washing is safe for the surfaces you’re wanting to clean. Power washing your home’s exterior will remove dirt and grime from winter and spring storms, making your home look fresh and clean.

Refresh the Landscaping

A home’s landscaping can say a lot about it: vibrant flowers and clean mulch give a bright, cheery vibe while a home with overgrown shrubs and bushes and no color can make the home appear darker and unkempt.

If you’re wanting to add color to your home’s landscaping or if you’re wanting to completely redo the landscaping, summer is a great time to do so. Planting perennials and year-round bushes and shrubs will help the roots get established before the first freeze. Take advantage of the cooler mornings and evenings and get planting! Your neighbors will appreciate the refresh and potential homebuyers will be impressed.

Replace the Gutters

Gutters are an essential part of the home; they collect water from the roof and drain it away from the home’s foundation ultimately protecting the home from drainage issues. Unfortunately, most gutter systems don’t last a lifetime, rather a decade or two, and need to be replaced due to wear and tear over the years. Likewise, traditional gutter systems need replacing after damage from hail, heavy snow and ice, and high wind speeds.

Living in the St. Louis area means that we experience all four seasons which includes a rainy season and severe thunderstorms that often produce hail and strong wind gusts, all of which can damage a home’s gutter system. Any time of year is a great time to replace the gutters, but summertime allows you to install a quality gutter system before fall and winter arrive, bringing pine needs, whirlybirds, leaves, and snow and ice.

If your gutters are leaking, sagging, overflowing, have become an eyesore, or if you’re tired of cleaning out leaves multiple times per year, consider making the switch to the K-Guard System. The K-Guard Leaf Free Gutter System is a complete system that keeps leaves, debris, and pests out for good. Our gutter product can withstand all types of weather conditions and is guaranteed transferable for the life of the home! Your K-Guard Leaf Free Gutter System will never corrode and the paint will never chip.

You’re bound to have an exciting and enjoyable summer if you attend any of the events above, host some gatherings, or tackle home projects. All of us at K-Guard wish you a wonderful summer spent with loved ones!
